The Basic System is the foundation for the classical Pilates work. Understanding and execution of the Basic System exercises is essential for all clients and instructors. Here, we learn to master and embody the Pilates principles: centering, concentration, control, precision, breath, and flow. These principles are present in all of the Pilates exercises on all of the apparatus. In the Basic System we also study many of the foundations of movement… learning how to align the frame of the body, understanding the powerhouse and how to scoop, finding opposition in movement, and developing a flexible spine. Studying the foundational material in the Basic Seminar with Teacher Trainer Brooke Tyler will help you in your individual Pilates workout, aid you in understanding how the Pilates work applies to every sport and everyday life, and will improve your teaching ability if you are already instructing.
