I stumbled into Chinese Medicine while working in Taiwan in the late 90s and early 2000s. I was impressed by how integrated Chinese herbal medicine and food therapy were in the culture of my colleagues, and by how they used each meal and readily available herbs to improve their health in observable ways.
This concept and style of self-care began to change how I approached my personal health. Years later, back in Shanghai, I was cured of what had been intractable asthma using a combination of acupuncture, herbs, and dietary changes under the direction of an acupuncturist.
These days, as an acupuncturist and herbalist myself, the benefits of holistic care including lifestyle, diet, and herbal therapies are more apparent than ever.
